Cheops celebrates birthday with blue cupcake car at Stonehenge
“… I want a blue car,” Arrow replied to Nazy’s query.
“Do you want a car you can sit on or a car you can play with?” Nazy asked.
“I want a blue car.” Arrow retorted.
“Arrow!” Tiger interjected. “Do you want a big car that we can play with on the driveway or a little car that we play with inside?” (Notice the artfully inserted ‘we’ can play with.)
“I want a blue car.”
We solved the problem by getting a little car and a big car. Sure enough, both boys played with the cars.. although the big car worked inside as well as outside.
They also had a party for Arrow at school — Melika brought cupcakes and Arrow blew out the candle. Tiger joined the festivities and…
“… grabbed the cupcake,” Melika said.
“Oops” I replied.
“But then, he peeled off the cupcake paper and gave the cupcake back to Arrow.”
…
And, finally, Arrow had a birthday celebration at his swimming class — when everyone in the building sang “Happy Birthday” while Arrow wore the special birthday hat. It..
“… was amazing, Nazy.”
“Yes, I thought so too. Everyone was singing..”
“Not that, Nazy. I meant that Arrow had more birthday celebrations this week than I’ve had in my entire life.”
“Really, Dan?” Nazy replied. “You’ve had a lot of birthday celebrations.”
“Or at least a lot of birthdays.” I concluded.
This week, Nazy also headed south to Los Angeles to spend some time with Mitra. It was a short, quick trip, so she decided to take the shuttle bus from here. Nazy was onboard and the bus was ready to depart when ‘the last passenger’ arrived. She ran to stop the bus as an entourage hauled ten suitcases…
“Suitcases?” I thought “Each piece of her ‘luggage’ is heavier than the rocks used to create Stonehenge and larger than the ones used to build the great Pyramid of Cheops.”
Eventually the bus departed for Los Angeles even though the luggage compartment sagged a bit. Nazy had a great time with Mitra.
They spent a lot of time shopping and lunching in the Abbot Kinney district of Venice, California — one of the ‘coolest’ streets in the country. Nazy and Mitra both liked the ‘rock’ store; Nazy even bought my anniversary gift, a heart-shaped Amethyst there. While they were having fun in LA, I was playing with the local grandchildren. I took Tiger and Arrow to tennis lessons: Tiger used a racquet, Arrow focused on footwork and tossing the ball. Azelle, not to be outdone, was making the difficult transition from standing to walking. At the beginning of the week, she was a bit wobbly as she took a couple of steps. Toward the end of the week, she was still wobbly, but she was taking several steps.
And, finally, on the weekend, Tom and Melika took the boys to Disneyland to celebrate …
“… Arrow’s birthday.” Nazy explained.
“Again?” I thought.
And, at the beginning of the week, Nazy and I celebrated our anniversary. More next week, but suffice it to say that we chose the venue carefully: a restaurant with very familiar chairs.
